Life as an IT. Thought it was boaring??!
In most cases yes that would be correct. Life as an IT technician, help desk, lab assistant, etc., can have its times that feel like watching paint dry would be more entertaining. But life can still be fun, and crazy at times. I am currently working a help desk position, and I find that people can be quite..... interesting.... at times. You get to see how people think and react to situations, and you find that some of the reactions are silly, to say the least. You get the people who call you for help with financial aid, (can't help there), people who call to get their router fixed on their internet, (true story........ go to staples if you encounter this problem by the way), people calling to get free gas, (another true story) and etc. Whenever these things happen it does both make your day interesting, and make you question your sanity. One of the aspects that I have noticed that I have struggled much with is that people tend to not read instructions when they see a line "if you need help, call the helpdesk at #). People tend to just see that and call first, and think later. I had a call from someone trying to print something on a public printer. The printer had a message on it telling them to enter their user name and password, and if they needed help, to call the help desk. Well this person waved trying to enter in the information and called me first. I was confused by her request while she was talking to me about how she was reading the instruction, when she clicked the go button on the screen. She suddenly realized that the screen was asking for the information that it required and realized that she never needed my help in the first place. She thanked me for me helping her, (which I just sat dumbfounded pretty much the entire time) saying that I was such a huge help and hung up the phone. I kind of laughed inside, asked a coworker to check that I was still sane, and went about the rest of my day. Moral of the story is, read the instructions first, then don't call the help desk, unless you truly need the help.... :)

About Me
So… I haven’t
introduced myself yet. My name is Bruce
Talbot. This is a new blog that I have
created that is a personal blog. I am a
student at Dixie State College and have been attending here for the last 4
years. This is my final semester here at
the college, which I’m very excited about.
My field that I’m going into is Audio Engineering, which I will be achieving
through a bachelor’s program in the Film Production tract in the Communications
department. If anyone was to ask me if I
was excited to be done with school and with getting a degree I would say Heck
Ya! I have enjoyed being here at Dixie
for the last several years, with that said I’m glad to be moving on into the
work force afterwards. After school I
hope to attain work in a recording studio (preferably) and work in recording
and editing music. I have been able to
do this to an extent by recording the bands and choirs here at Dixie for the
last 4 years and have thoroughly enjoyed it.
I am married, no kids, lived in St. George all my life except for 2
years in which I served a 2 year LDS mission. Ah…. What else about myself? I work here at the college currently at the
Dixie Helpdesk. I am taking one of the
most different classes right now that I have ever taken (interior design) and
have to say that the class is a big step out of my comfort zone. If I had to move anywhere for work I would
want to stay in or around Utah preferably.
I’m not a big city person, love the country to much. Unique things about me are that when I was
younger I used to be able to stick my legs around my head, even without
hands. I have not tried this in a long
while and doubt that I could still do it.
I am the tallest in my family, and no, that does not make my family a
family of midgets… Don’t ask because someone else already asked me the question. The shortest in my family is about 5’3. And, yea…
That’s basically the introduction for me! Talk to ya another post!
